How our master plant dietas actually work.
There is nothing to figure out on your own. From the initial health and safety screening and intention setting, to your flight home and ongoing integration, here is the shape of an authentic Shipibo master plant dieta in Peru, step by step.
The initial call and health and safety screening.
You reach out and choose a time to talk, and we send you a short health and safety intake to complete before the call. It takes a little time, but it is really important, both for your health and safety and for making sure your experience is as productive as it can be. The screening comes first for a reason: some conditions and medications, such as SSRIs, certain blood-pressure medicines and schizophrenia do not mix safely with the medicine, so we check carefully before anything else.
Then we talk, honestly, about where you are, what’s happening, what you are looking for and whether this is genuinely the right fit. Please be aware that we are open to talking with everyone, but some people will be gently referred away to other modalities if we feel dieta is not suitable. This is never anything personal, but part of doing this work as safely and responsibly as we can.
The work begins before you travel.
The moment you commit, the work begins. Marisela will often start connecting with you from afar, while we work together over a few calls. This includes getting clear on your intention, cultural context, learning how to work with Ayahuasca and master plants, and how to hold yourself in the dieta.
The practical side is covered too: where to travel to, what to pack, which hotel to book (if needed) and how the family will meet you.
The practical side is covered too: what to pack, which hotel to book, and how the family will meet you. Three calls of around an hour, kept flexible to where you are.
You are met when you land.
You fly into Peru and on to Pucallpa. The centre is around 45 minutes from the city and airport and you are collected when you land, so there is no scramble at the other end. If you need a night or more either side, we can help you arrange where you stay and timings are coordinated with the family so you are met in the right place at the right time.
The master plant dieta with the family.
The dieta itself is held by Marisela and the family, in ceremony and in the quiet days between. What the dieta involves has its own page. Here is the place you live it in.
A quiet spot between the jungle and the river.
The centre sits far enough from the city that you would not know it was there, deep enough into the green to feel held by it and immersed in nature. It is a small, beautiful, private space. Fish are caught fresh from the river, bananas grow nearby and master plants grow on the land itself.
There is a wealth of beautiful scenery, animals and nature in every direction and in the evenings, the forest is both alive and peaceful, holding you through your dieta.

Your accommodation: private, simple, and enough.
You stay in your own private, isolated tambo. It is basic and it is comfortable in the ways that matter: a bed and mosquito net, your own toilet and shower, a desk, and bottled water. Candles, mosquito repellent, a lighter, mapacho, and agua de florida are all provided.
The dieta closes gently.
On the final night of ceremony, there is a closing ‘arkana’ ceremony. The arkana provides a very strong protection for the plant to continue rooting, growing and flourishing with you over time. With this protection, you are then safe to leave and are brought back to Pucallpa for your flight home and the next phase of your dieta.
We continue together.
Once you are home, the support carries on for as long as the dieta is working in you: three to six structured integration calls depending on the length of your post-dieta, written guidance, Marisela’s distance blessings and energetic care from afar, and the family reachable for whatever comes up. How the integration support works has its own page.
